Hey...can someone suggest some good art software? and where I can purchase it? Thanks.

I took a computer arts class a few years ago and loved it. The only thing I can remember about the program I was using was that it was Adobe. Oh, well.

I want to get back into my creative processes. Art and writing mostly.

Thanks for any help,
Dawn

Jasc Softwares (PaintShop Pro, Animation Shop), Macromedia (Fireworks, Flash), Adobe (Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator), Corel (CorelDraw, Photopaint) <-- pretty good softwares to buy..

If you're looking for 3d Image rendering software, you can try out Poser, Maya or 3Dmax. But be sure your PC has enough memory/processor strength though, 3D softwares eats up a lot of RAM. >.<

If you don't want to buy, though, you can try to find this software called Gimp.

And most of those are pretty pricey. RockerGoddess PM me and I will arrange something that has to to do with Photoshop.

If you ask around friends round your area that do artr, one of them will probable have to CD for Adobe Photoshop, thats probably tha most widely used one, then you can just use that. Virtually my whole graphics class used the same CD :D

The one software package I use is called Ulead's Photo Impact 5.

Now that's about 4 or so years old but it still does everything I need it to do. I"m sure the newer versions have some neat tricks or whatever. But I like what I have. It comes packaged with Ulead Gif Animator which is extremely helpful when making signatures or avatars.

I don't think it's too expensive. I think the highest it'd be priced is like $50 at Staples or whatever.

Another great thing to use for resizing pictures without loosing too much of the quality is something called Irfanview, which I was able to download online. That was a looooong time ago so you'll probably have to do a google search to find it again and download it yourself. ;)
