I try. lol.

None of mine showed up. I asked one about 'Chine Shop and who he is scouting and a few about working on it. Nyeh. It was a bit confusing.

That's not true... I saw your question twice.

Weird.

Kinda lame how they couldn't allow Brad to even answer one Linkin Park question. Yes I care a lot about Fort Minor, but I also want to know what the next LP record has in store for us.

...we all do.

I was just browsing around your site... great job! I haven't been there and a while so I was surprised to see how much it's grown. Good luck with the FMST competition. :)

You did? o_O

I only saw my questions when I posted them, which is how it should have done it. Hmm.

...we all do.

It seemed that Brad veered away from the ones that did relate to LP. They said at the start though that FM questions would take precedence. Would've been nice to hear something though =/

Fort Minor Chat: Brad Delson 09-11-05

* bigbadbrad (16:12): greeting i have entered the chat

xxjeannexx (16:12): Hey Brad

xxjeannexx (16:13): go ahead and submit your questions

xxjeannexx (16:13): halt the questions for a sec

* bigbadbrad (16:14): questions please

CrawlingInYourSkin (16:14): hey brad! was it hard or pretty easy to do the A&R?

hamzaben (16:14): and linkin park say that the next album will be on the backs in spring 2006, do we have to wait the releasement of the album at the end of 2006 or the begginnig of 2007 ?

Apostolos (16:14): hey brad. what's up? being the A&R guy, what's your favorite song on The Rising Tied and why?

* bigbadbrad (16:15): it was great working with mike in a different capacity than linkin park. I'm incredibly proud of the album he made and was happy to have been included

xxjeannexx (16:15): brad can you do me a favor and bold your text so i can see when you've responded?

black hawk (16:16): Hey Brad, will you be making any appearances on any live Fort Minor concerts or in the album (The Rising Tied) itself?

CaptainObvious (16:17): Do most of the songs on the The Rising Tide sound very unique? For instance, Petrified has a kind of new sound and style to it. Basically, once the album is released, will we be in for a surprise or have we already gotten a good feel of it?

* bigbadbrad (16:18): what i love about the album is that it's so diverse in terms of the types of songs so I have a lot of favorites. I love "The High Road" I love "Petrified" I love "Where'd you Go". I'm just excited for everyone to hear the entire record

duo (16:18): Aloha brad, what exactly were some of your responsibilitys doing A&R for the Fort Minor Project?

* bigbadbrad (16:18): Yes I will be making appearances at a number of Fort Minor shows...in the audience

xxjeannexx (16:19): thanks for bolding, brad

esaul (16:19): You took great interest in Holly Brook's demo and offered her a deal with Machine Shop Recordings. So what can we expect from Holly on Fort Minor and in the future?

xxjeannexx (16:20): guys please don't PM me - Please PM another mod : darthyak, jonandbt, or machineshopjean

xxjeannexx (16:20): thank you

* bigbadbrad (16:20): I think each of the tracks on the album is unique, but there's definitely a feeling throughout the entire record. It's a very musical record. It was important to Mike that the musical elements were organic. For instance, rather than just playing strings...

jonandbt (16:20): pm me if you have to.

* bigbadbrad (16:21): off a keyboard he brought a strings group in the studio to compose all the parts he had composed.

hybridx (16:21): Brad, is the new Linkin Park Album going to have a taste of what was in Fort Minor, such as new beats, more orchestra? Mike rapping like he does in Fort Minor... More guests?

* bigbadbrad (16:22): My role was to listen to a lot of the ideas Mike was coming up with and help focus that process. We also had the benefit of Jay'

* bigbadbrad (16:23): s participation as executive producer.

* bigbadbrad (16:24): He was instrumental in helping Mike to realize his creative goals with this project.

jonandbt (16:25): Questions are posted in here. WE choose which to pass

jonandbt (16:25): PM myself, yak or jean if you have any problems.

xmissmonax (16:25): everyone please slow down with the questions.

xxjeannexx (16:25): Jonathan - through the regular chat area, no pms to me

xmissmonax (16:25): one at a time.

DarthYak (16:25): do not PM jeanne your questions. Post them here and they will be forwarded along in the chat

* bigbadbrad (16:26): Holly is an artist that everyone is incredibly excited about. She is an amazingly talented vocalist and musician. Her debut effort is due out next year on Machine Shop and she was generous enough to lend her vocals to a handful of Fort Minor tracks.

xxjeannexx (16:26): Try to stick to FM questions, everyone

jonandbt (16:28): Lets get some more questions. Only post if its a question and try and keep them original and not about socks.

n4t1v3 (16:28): If this is your first venture into a&r'ing, what tasks did you find harder being a new exec?

* bigbadbrad (16:29): One of the most substantial contributions to Fort Minor has come from Styles of Beyond. Ryu and Tak are two incredibly gifted emcees whose creative participation is deeply felt throughout the entire album.

LinkinParkArmy43 (16:30): I would like to ask you, Whats it like working behind the scenes and not playing on stage to a crowd? does it feel weird? Or was it just normal from the start. Thank you

lhsansshade (16:30): Hi Brad, Did you get to work with Holly, Styles of Beyond, or any other artists while helping on the Album? If so who was the most fun to work with.

xmissmonax (16:31): DO NOT TRY TO PM BRAD - IT DOESN'T GO THROUGH. THANKS.

xmissmonax (16:31): opps that was to all of you.

* bigbadbrad (16:31): I'm sworn to secrecy

Vash_the_Stampede (16:32): Hello Brad, I was wondering, on the song, Cover & Duck, the guitar riffs sound a lot like your riffs from One Step Closer. My question is, did you have anything to do with that? Or, did you work on any other tracks on the album/mixtape? Thanks.

HybridLP (16:33): What are your thoughts on Green Lantern's Mixtape? Is that what we can expect from FM, except for all the scratching and yelling? What are the differences between the two albums? Which album do you prefer?

* bigbadbrad (16:34): It's fun for me to work creatively with different types of artists. I love to make music and my goal as an A&R is not to ruin the artist's music on which I'm working.

xxjeannexx (16:36): please ONLY submit questions, no dots or random comments. thank you

* bigbadbrad (16:37): I love the Green Lantern mixtape. Much respect to Ghostface, Lupe Fiasco, Juelz Santana, and all the other guest artists that made "WE MAJOR" such an amazing piece.

xxjeannexx (16:37): And remember to submit Fort Minor questions - others will not be passed to Brad.

* bigbadbrad (16:38): Watching the show from the audience, it's a lot easier not to mess up.

esaul (16:39): Brad, what were the deciding factors in what to let on the album, and what to release on the mixtape? You guys got pretty generous with those 19 tracks!

* bigbadbrad (16:39): Fort Minor...WE MAJOR

ps2xboxgamr (16:39): brad what do you think the future for Fort minor is? like do you think mike will continue working on hip-hop after linkin park get doen with a CD and tour?

kaiti (16:39): How much time did you yourself spend working with Mike and the others on TRT?

* bigbadbrad (16:41): Mike is incredibly prolific so fortunately he had a lot of extra material to realease through mixtapes. When it came to choosing which songs would go on the album, again, there was a lot of material from which to choose...

* bigbadbrad (16:43): ...That's why every track that made the album is dope.

claudiolp (16:43): So.. when did Mike invite you to be TRT's A&R? How did you react to that? Had you ever done something like that?

loveslave831 (16:44): Brad, what was it like working on a hip hop album? did u feel uncomfortable working out of what you are used to working on?

* bigbadbrad (16:44): I spent 314 hours 8 minutes and 17 seconds- give or take 300 hours- working on the record.

xxjeannexx (16:45): amazing

* bigbadbrad (16:46): I like the letter "A", and I like the letter "R", so I guess you could say, I like the letters "A&R"

* bigbadbrad (16:46): I'm very hip hop

jonandbt (16:47): sure. cool with the bouncing, right. more questions people?

Liverpool00 (16:47): How was it for you being in the studio again with mike but this time working on pure Hip Hop?

HybridChick09 (16:47): yeah....Brad- If you could have had another artist to either be featured on Fort Minor or to help you with your work on FM, who would it be?

* bigbadbrad (16:49): It would be Goya.

esaul (16:49): The Rising Tied is set to be featured on MTV's The Leak next week. What exactly will be released for listening?

Cryptic (16:52): While watching the recording process, ( assuming you did so) do you see yourself taking anything you learned and applying it toward the next Linkin Park album?

DarthYak (16:53): Only 1 question each people. And send your question once.

analoggirl (16:54): Hey Brad! You keep surprising us with your talent! Some A&R guys handle contractual negotiations between labels and artists. Did you also assume this responsibility? What’s it like dealing with Warner right now? Thanks, BBB! <3

xxjeannexx (16:55): please don't ask personal questions about. . . afros ;) lol

jonandbt (16:55): <3 donna.

* bigbadbrad (16:56): The Rising Tied will be streamed in its entirety starting 11/15 on MTV.com's The Leak

* bigbadbrad (16:57): We have time for one more question.

jonandbt (16:57): no freeposting / messaging please. only questions to brad about FM/LP/recording/A N R and try to keep them original and fresh, not about socks hair or touring.

n4t1v3 (16:58): How do you think The Rising Tied stands up to what Hip Hop is today, and do you think that it has the potential to change people's idea of what Hip Hop is or suppose to be?

jonandbt (17:01): [all questions have been asked.we're waiting on brad's answer now. thanks]

* bigbadbrad (17:01): What's so powerful about hip hop culture is that it is constantly evolving. Hip hop has made an incredibly powerful impact on Mike, and Mike, with his record, hopes to make a powerful impact on hip hop.

* bigbadbrad (17:03): Thank you all so much for having me here at FortMinor.com. I'm incredibly excited for all of you to hear the Rising Tied. Again, I'm grateful and proud to have played a small part in this process and thank all of you for playing an even bigger one.(left, gone)

I dunno what the capacity of this chat is, but it's first come first serve basis in the LPU....you gotta be in that hours before chats to get a spot. I wonder if that'll happen here too eventually.

the new program could probably hold a few hundred - a thousand people, i've been told.

the problem is... the impossibility of organized moderating.
I had a long talk with Sparkart about it after the chat last night.
